Galactic Space Tactic is a free futuristic text-based MMORPG that is completely browser based, so no downloads necessary!

Create your own ship, travel to distant galaxies, engage in full scale wars, Player vs Player combat, complete quests and objectives to build and improve your character.

Train your skills to gather raw materials to forge and restore new items, weapons, armour and artifacts.

You can join or create your own fleet of like minded players and raid rival planets to gain territory, new items and wealth.

Getting Back Into the Swing of Things 16th January 2013
It has been almost a full year since I last even looked at GST, been busy with so many other things, but I'm back into the swing of things now, a New Year a new start so to speak.

I have been looking over the code and most of it looked so unfamiliar to me, I've had to go over all of the code base just to get to know how things work and what goes where etc.

Now that I am pretty confident I know how most things work, I have been and redesigned the databases to normalize them, took time but it is worth it in the long run.

Over the past 2 days or so I have been updating some old code and fixing some issues, as well as building features to make it easier for me to add and edit certain aspects of the game in the future.

I have completed the level system, created a battle script (which I haven't ported over just yet), redesigned how skills will work and went over the world exploring feature and updated that too.

A lot has been changed/updated/fixed, and there is a lot more to come. I am hoping to get PvE and PvP battles out next, just need to do some number crunching on stats and such.
World Exploration Updated 28th February 2012
It's been a whole 2 weeks since I last posted, and I can tell you a lot has happened in those 2 weeks.
I've added some extra security to logging in, to prevent some cross site forgeries as well as numerous updates to the World, such as:
- More efficient map loading
- Ability to view other users who are on the same coordinates as you
- Implemented actions, allowing you to move between maps smoothly
- Added support for details of a certain area/tile
- Added a new error reporting system, which also logs potential hack attempts
- Added support for characters to speak to (I haven't implemented the dialog plugin yet though)

It's also a first for GST, as I have finally added and pretty much finished up the first skill, go find those mining nodes and get mining!
Backend Updates and Fixes 14th February 2012
Although I haven't really added much content over the last month or so, there has been alot of development of the backend system.

I have been kept busy with work commitments and other things, but have been working on GST while I can. I've been working on speeding up a few of the current systems we have in place, such as world exploration and page load speeds, I have learnt a few things along the way which I will use later on in other development of GST.

I have set myself a target of implementing at least 2 new features before the end of February, I have an idea of what I want, lets hope I have the time.
